FREYA PAUWELS

Freya Pauwels obtained her Bachelor of Dance in 2012. She danced in several dance productions directed by Lonneke van Leth; ''The match', 'The Match Tour’, ' Den Haagsegrachtenpracht’ and ’Swanlake’. Thereafter, she danced in ‘L’Autre’ of the French choreographer Brice Mousset in New York en was invited to work in Australia by ‘The Australian Dance Theatre’. In 2014 she made her own full-length performance from scratch, named ‘WithOutMAN’,  a collaboration between dance, theatre and graphics. She won the first price in the youth competition of the African Film Festival 2015. As a freelancer, she worked closely with the renowned Min Hee Bervoets, Thao Nguyen, Michel Froget and others. She enjoyed supplementary training in Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, New York, Los Angeles, Melbourne and Adelaide. Working as a dance teacher eversince 2011, teaching mainly jazztechnics and modern/floorwork. Her classes consist of an exhaustive warm-up with attention for correct placement, strength and coordination. She focuses on dynamics, intention and spatial awareness  in and outside the body. Music is of high importance in her work. From 2015 Freya is also teaching contemporary classes at Dansstudio Arabesque.
