Ilja Louwen Born in Amsterdam on July 14, 1969, studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
From 1987 to 1992 she danced with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam directed by Nils Christe.
In 1992 she joined the Opera am Rhein in Düsseldorf.
She also danced among others in Zurich Ballet, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo and Ballet Victor Ullate in Madrid as a first soloist.
They include danced works by these renowned choreographers:
Jiri Kylian, William Forshyte, Matz Ek, Daniel Ezralow, George Balanchine, Maurice Bejart, Wubbe, Heinz Spoerli, Leo Mujic, Pascale Touzeau, Sjoerd Vreugdenhil and many others.
Since 2003 she works as a freelance artist and danced among others in the following International Ballet Galas: Gala of Stars in Taipei World Stars at the Opera in Budapest Gala of the 21st Century in Toronto, and Malakhov friends in Berlin, International Ballet Festival of Miami USA, Gala des Etoile in Paris
Ilja Louwen is also a guest teacher at numerous dance companies and professional ballet schools like Academy Princesse Grace, Hanover Ballet, Dresden Ballet to name but a few.
Since 2011, she has consistently choreographic assistant Leo Mujic and Xin Peng Wang.
